Consultation Summary Report
To be effective, comprehensive sexual health education (CSHE) programs must meaningfully engage boys in learning about gender-based violence prevention concepts, such as consent and the restrictive gender norms that contribute to violence (SIECCAN, 2023) Learning about consent is also important for boys and young men to develop healthy relationships and communication skills However, the extent to which youth receive consent education varies across Canada (Robinson et al., 2019), and health service providers often receive little pre-service training in this area The current project, Increasing Capacity to Provide Effective Consent Education, aims to equip health service providers1 with the tools to deliver effective consent education to boys and Autistic youth. This report focuses specifically on boys and young men and the health service providers who support them.
