This fact sheet is designed to inform transgender and non-binary people of what the risks are of an HPV infection and how it can be passed on. It also details how to best protect oneself from an HPV infection, including getting the HPV vaccine. This resource can be distributed by Healthcare Providers to patients or accessed directly by transgender and non-binary people to be informed about their sexual health.

Many people are not aware that some cancers are caused by viruses. About 4 out of 10 cases of Human papillomavirus (HPV) related cancers occur among men. The HPV vaccine will protect you against the most common HPV strains that cause anal, tharot, and penile cancers as well as genital warts.
Merck has provided SIECCAN with unrestricted sponsorships to develop educational resources to increase HPV awareness in Canada. Through these sponsorships, SIECCAN has conducted national surveys of HPV-related knowledge, attitudes, and behaviours to inform the development of informational resources focused on HPV-related cancer prevention.
